BOOK REVIEW - Love is a Verb

I had the privilege of receiving a copy of Gary Chapman's newest book, Love is a Verb. And now I have another privilege of being able to share my thoughts on that book with you.

So I'm thinking that when Paul wrote 1 Corinthians 13, he left something out of the list of Love is... Right there among "Love is patient, love is kind" should have been, "Love is...a verb."Of course, all of the things Paul mentions really are verbs. Being patient, exercising self-control, not boasting...they're all action phrases. But the most important thing to keep in mind is that love isn't a feeling. It's something we do. Even when--no, especially when--we don't feel it.

Author, Gary Chapman, is pretty much an expert on love. He's a well respected marriage and family expert and has written many books, including bestseller, The Five Love Languages. But, Love is a Verb is different from the previous books Dr. Chapman has written. It doesn't teach with typical lessons and expert advice. This book is filled with real life stories of everyday people - like you and me - who demonstrated love in remarkable ways. Some of these people chose to love even though loving was the last thing they wanted to do. Some showed love to complete strangers. Some had to re-learn to love a member of their own family. And in each instance, the power of that love reached deep and far and wide to mend relationships, soften hearts, and display the unconditional love of God.

Turn on the news today and you may get discouraged at how the world is falling apart. But pick up a copy of Love is a Verb, and read the inspiring stories of love in action, and you'll realize that there is still hope. With God's help, and a little love, the world can become a better place.

I loved every one of these heart-warming and soul-stirring stories. It certainly has changed my perspective on just what love is. It proves that love has nothing to do with how I feel and has everything to do with what I do. When I do my part and obey God's instructions on loving, He handles the results. And those results are never anything short of amazing.

Love is a Verb is available at your local Christian bookstore, as well as Amazon.com.

I'll never forget the Don Francisco song that proclaimed "love is not a feeling, it's an act of your will." Such a transformative thought.

This book is great. Well it is true that love is considered a verb and not a noun and etc. I'll read this book again.
