Faith, Farming, Friendship, and a Fantastic Find!

Today I want to point you in the direction of a fabulous blog. The blog itself doesn't have a whole lot to do with writing, although the blogger is a writer. And a funny one, at that. She has authored a small gift book titled, 101 Ways to Celebrate the Ordinary, which offers a look at the ordinary things around us that we often take for granted. On Friday, you'll have a chance to WIN a copy of her book, so be sure to watch for that. But I have to say, if there's one thing Diane Loew is NOT, it's ordinary.

Besides a writer/author, Diane is:

  • A dairy farmer's wife
  • Mother of 4 adult sons
  • Grandmother of several adorable "Wigglies"
  • Former cookie shop owner and fabulous cook/baker
  • Church bookstore employee
  • Radio host
  • A talented photographer
  • and...most importantly...one of my very best friends!

Diane and I met a couple years ago and have since become great buds. We co-wrote our church's Christmas production, How Christmas Saved the Grinch (attended by over 14,000 people last year and projected 20,000+ this year). Diane is an amazing woman, who juggles more bales of hay than I can count. I seriously don't know how she does it all.

What she's best at -- and perhaps the coolest thing about her -- is despite maintaining a ridiculously crazy schedule, she is always willing to drop what she is doing to help someone in need, meet a friend for coffee, or babysit her "wiggies." She realizes that spending time with people is much more precious than anything she "has to do."

I strive to be more like that!

Diane has recently revamped her blog, which she calls A Farmer's Wife (www.afarmwife.com). There is lots to see there, so grab a cup of coffee and start browsing. There really is something for everyone! If you want to be encouraged (Between You and Me), get a few laughs (Farm Funnies), view some amazing photography (Nature Photos),  find a great new recipe (Country Grub), learn some fascinating facts about farming (Out in the Barnyard), or simply celebrate the ordinary (Daily Ordinary), click on over!

Diane Loew has been such a blessing to me. And I know her blog will bless you, encourage you, and leave you with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

We wish you lived closer, too, Lisa! It was great having dinner with you a few months ago and we hope to see you again soon. :-)

Lisa - miss you being around here too. Lynda you are too kind and have made a masterpiece out of a worn out paint by number picture. I am the one blessed by you. And, ya'all are welcome to come sit on my back porch swing - I'll make sure there is some sort of goodie to go along with coffee or fresh milk from my BEBs.

I've only met Diane once, but the woman sure made an impression! Love her take on life and continue to be inspired and entertained by the latest Wigglies Adventure or yummy farm cooking. Great blog by a great chic.
