Meet Fiction Author Deborah Vogts and WIN!

Ready for some FUN?

Today, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce you to Deborah Vogts. Deborah is a fellow ACFW member and is a brand new novelist. One thing that's unique about Deborah's writing is that her stories take place in the country. So if you're a country girl or guy at heart, there's no doubt you'll be immediately hooked on Deborah's books.

You can WIN a copy of her just-released debut novel, Snow Melts in Spring, by leaving a comment on this post, telling me why you want to win this book. Deadline to enter is midnight, September 13. Winner will be announced next Monday, September 14.

Also...I am cross-posting my Examiner.com article here because I want to give you a taste of what Fiction Author Fun Facts is all about. So be sure to scroll down for 10 fun facts about Deborah.

But first, here is a brief synopsis about Snow Melts in Spring:

When an aged horse is severely injured on a gravel road in the Flint Hills of Kansas, country veterinaria n Mattie Evans accepts the challenge to save him. But she finds herself in the middle of a longstanding feud between the horse’s owner, pro quarterback Gil McCray, and his ailing father—who is also her dear friend.

As the snow melts in spring, Gil’s return to his estranged father’s ranch brings a chance for new beginnings and reconciliation, but when he falls in love with Mattie, he must face the truths that haunt him or run from his past. Meanwhile, Mattie encourages Gil to return permanently to Kansas rather than retire in California. Their love collides when Mattie’s sister arrives on Gil’s doorstep, causing Gil to come to terms with the jealous acts leading up to his brother’s death and seek forgiveness from those he loves most. Can he accept God’s forgiveness, and will that be enough to make him stop running from his memories of home? In turn, if Mattie forgives, she’ll be forced to choose between the man of her dreams and the land she dearly loves.

Remember to leave a comment about why you would love to win a copy of this book. Good luck!

Now, here are 10 Fun Facts about Deborah Vogts:

What time of the day do you do your best writing? - Some of my best writing occurs late morning and early evening--usually about the time supper needs to be prepared. For some odd reason, my characters aren't aware that my family depends on me to feed them. LOL

Favorite fast-food restaurant: - My husband sneers at us, but my daughters and I love SONIC. Yummy hamburgers and onion rings--oh and happy hour 1/2 price drinks from 2-4. LOL

First job you ever had: - When I was a junior in high school, I sold Princess House Crystal. That job lasted a year, and I collected all of the crystal I use now. Beautiful stuff. I especially like their handblown stemware.

If you could spend an afternoon with one Bible character (besides Jesus), who would it be? - Interesting question...how about Miriam when she crossed the Red Sea. That would have been an incredible experience, wouldn't it? Or, maybe fixing a meal with Mary & Martha, or how about sewing a dress with Dorcas, or I know . . . following behind Esther when she was in her queen training. Sorry, there are just too many characters to choose from. :)

Favorite Disney character? - The Little Mermaid -- She has the sweetest voice.

Book on your nightstand: - Two books, actually. Fields of Grace by Kim Vogel Sawyer and The Carousel Painter by Judith Miller--both are fellow Kansas authors who have new releases in September!

Three words you would use to describe yourself: Friendly, country, Christian.

What kind of car do you drive? A 1999 RED Yukon -- until it dies and we have to get a new one. And YES, the color always matters. ;)

Are you an introvert or extrovert? I am a wanna-be introvert forced into being an extrovert. Actually, I was forced out of my shell when I became a consultant for Princess House. But I LOVE meeting and visiting with my new readers. That has been an incredible joy.

Favorite flower: - Peace Roses--they smell so good.

Being a new novelist myself (that's a prophetic statement as I am yet unpublished)I like to read first works. I am a country girl having raised my kids on our farm in Washington state. Sounds like a great story. Would love to learn something from reading her work.

Why would I like to win a copy of this book? For many reasons, but here are just a few: I love reading new authors, I live in Kansas and love reading about my state, and finally, I am a bookaholic, so any time I can own a book of my own I never pass up a chance. Thanks for the chance to win!

Hi Lynda, Thank you for sharing about this new author and her new book. The reasons I would like to win this book are: #1 It's always fun to win, #2 I also was a Princess House consultant, so we have that in common, #3 I do not know anything about Kansas, prairie life and quarter horses and always like to go to new places when I read, and #4, you wrote a nice review! Thanks Coleene
