The Month in Review... October

No big news to report this month. At least, not writing related. OK, not even personally. My month was extremely busy but extremely uneventful. Although, my daughter's volleyball games were pretty exciting (and they ended the season 9-2! Woot!)

In October, my agent submitted my proposal for Mind over Madi to three new publishers, one of which (or would that be whom) promptly rejected it. Keeping all fingers and toes crossed for good news from one of the other two.

Also received a rejection on a batch of greeting cards I submitted to DaySpring. Bummer.

I did receive an email from Mature Living magazine, letting me know that my short story will be contracted within the next couple months. Yay!

My main goal for October was to pound out some major wordage in a novel I'm currently working on. The first two weeks were great - I added a few thousand words. Then, two weeks ago, I threw my back out while doing a "jumping photo" with my family during a professional photo session. Yes, I know it sounds hilarious, but I'm not laughing. In fact, I've been crying quite a bit lately.

Hey, it hurts!

Anyway, sitting for any length of time has been nearly impossible and my word count is paying the price. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday, so at least I'll know if I do, in fact, have a slipped disc, which all the symptoms painfully point to.

Sigh...really, who has time for pain? UGH.

Once I get a handle on the back thing, I'm hoping to really start pumping out those words again.

What about you? Any accomplishments, achievements, successes (either minor or major), met goals, or even disappointments last month? Do share! I'd love to celebrate (or commiserate) with you!

Lynda,
I can't believe you hurt your back that way! Back pain can be awful!! I am so sorry to hear this.
And maybe this will be the month you hear on your book:))
I have had a month of rejections but did agree to speak at a conference. Yeah, that's right-- I remember your fear and mine overshadows yours!! LOL So it's your turn to pray hard for me!

And if you REALLY wanna know how my month went - check back at my blog Monday some time :)

Praying for the two other publishers, sweetie.

Sorry about your back, they take real down time to heal. Not much happened in my writing corner besides research I'm not exactly sure is going anywhere.

Congratulations on your short story success!

Nothing to report in my corner, as I am up to my earlobes in forms lately! I just posted about that at my blog. (A small accomplishment!)

I sympathize with your back pain. God bless you with quick healing! (I once broke my ankle playing with a beach ball. It just seems wrong--there's no gory story like "I broke it playing hockey...")
