The Month in Review...January

Another month has bitten the dust. Or, in my case, the snowbank.

Here is a brief rundown of my month. Please share your highlights, as well. I'd love to hear what you've been up to.

  • Celebrated my son's 17th birthday and cried. Not because he's growing up but because I'm growing old. Wah...
  • Sold an article to LIVE, a Gospel Publishing Sunday School take-home paper.
  • Submitted five articles/short stories...one rejected. Jury's still out on the other four.
  • Submitted another novella collection proposal to Barbour Publishing for consideration. Our group consists of Loree Lough, Teresa Slack, and Deborah Dee Harper. Keeping our fingers and toes crossed for a contract.
  • Decided to do away with my schedule for blogging. Much better for me!
  • Won a copy of I won a copy of Jeff Herman's 2011 Guide to Book Publishers, Editors and Literary Agents through a Gotham's Writers contest I entered a while back. Another win this month: The Green Hornet movie tickets.
  • Was  "hired" as a volunteer writer for our church's 2011 Christmas production. I am so excited to be a part of this. It's going to be awesome!
That's about it. Looking forward to a fabulous February!

What about you? Did you have some "hot" things going on in spite of the freezing cold temps?

The hottest thing i have going is my crazy moving job... been so busy at work the time just flew right by. Can't believe we are in February. I love your blog and I get a lot of helpful writing tips from it. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the laugh today about crying because you are old and not baout your son turning 17. I am in the same boat. My oldest turns 17 in March... BOO HOO we are old. HA!!!

The hardest part is knowing we're really still only 25. For some reason, my body won't listen to me when I try to convince it that it can do certain things. And my kids definitely tell me I can't wear certain things. Since when were skinny jeans and knee-high boots outlawed for moms?

Lynda...

Great post--thanks for mentioning our names :-) I can't believe you achieve so much when you still have children at home. Way to go. I'm keeping our novellas in my prayers. And just wait until your child turns 39--which my son will be this year in May! Believe me, you are NOT old!

You're doing great, Lynda! And writing for your Christmas program is SO awesome! At Res Life? May have to come see it--keep us updated!

Such a nice list of accomplishments, Lynda! Hope your February is pleasant and productive, too. My major accomplishment in January was organizing many, many years' worth of family pictures. Whew! Planning a ministry trip to Wales in February.

Thanks, ladies. And yes, Jo! Will definitely keep you posted. :-)

That's some great accomplishments! I like how your son's birthday was at the top of the list too. I submitted a short story to a literary mag, something I've wanted to do for years! My accomplishments are long in the making, but growing slow is okay too, I must believe!

I started sending out apps in search of a full time job. My son turned 18 last month and is off to college in the fall. Gotta pay for that. Hoping that February proves to be the winner.
